Job Quest and Expos open opportunities

The 2004 Student Job Quest, which is held in conjunction with the AAPG Eastern Section meeting, was held October 2nd-3rd in Columbus, Ohio.

A number of students and companies were able to interact, recruit and view student posters.

The winners of the poster competition at the Eastern Section AAPG Student Job Quest were:

  • First: Alejandro Sanchez, West Virginia University
  • Second: Audrey Ritter, Western Michigan University
  • Third: Jeremy Wolpert, West Virginia University

Also the 2004 AAPG/SEG Student Expo was held in Houston, TX on October 17-18th.

A large crowd of students and companies were on hand conducting interviews and networking.

The poster session was generously sponsored by ChevronTexaco this year.

The first place winner this year was: Christopher Mattheus from the University of Alabama

The first place prize this year was $500 to be used with either AAPG or SEG for educational items such as books, short courses, or meeting registration fees.

There were four Honorable Mention awards given in the amount of $200 per student.

The winners were:

  • Yogesh Agnihotri from the University of Texas at Dallas
  • Weihong Fei from the University of Texas at Dallas
  • Jon Koenig from Baylor University
  • Sylvia Nordfjord from the University of Texas at Austin
